Tuna is a launcher for macOS.
It is built around one simple command shape:
- The subject
- The action
- An optional target
It borrows and builds upon this structure from Quicksilver.
Tuna is modal. It has four modes:
They are not four separate apps, they are four ways into the same command system.
Keep this in mind while learning Tuna. Once it clicks, the rest stops feeling like features and starts feeling like one coherent tool.
Permissions During Setup
Tuna’s onboarding explains which features use each macOS permission. Permission indicators reflect what Tuna can actually verify: Automation checks Finder, System Events, and Shortcuts separately, while Full Disk Access can show an unknown state on a fresh account where macOS provides no safe folder to test. Choose Grant to open the relevant System Settings pane; you can click it again at any time if you did not finish granting access the first time.
Tuna’s setup guide introduces the command flow, sources, permissions, privacy choices, and activation shortcut. You can reopen it from Show Onboarding in Tuna’s menu bar at any time; when reopened, its source choices reflect your current Sources settings. Choosing Skip Setup completes the guide, so Tuna will not open it automatically again.
