Tuna

Sleek, fast and native launcher for macOS.

No subscription. No cloud required. Native Swift from the ground up, private by default.

Version 0.106 · macOS 15 or later

Meet Tuna, the introduction. 18 minutes, or watch it on YouTube.

Built like a sentence

Tuna gives you one shape, carried forward from Quicksilver: find a thing, choose what to do with it, and optionally say where it goes. Press Tab on any result to see what it can do.

Apps, files, text, notes, tasks, clipboard items, windows: they all work the same way. Learn the shape once and every new source or extension already makes sense. How commands work

Four ways in. One system.

Tuna is modal. The modes are not four apps; they are four doors into the same command system.

Not like the other launchers

No account. No cloud. No subscription. Native Swift from the ground up, and private by default: Tuna never sees your queries, your clipboard, or your transcripts.

It learns you

Type sfi, choose Safari, and from then on sfi means Safari. Add aliases for the rest.

Browse into anything

Press → to step into folders, Notes, Reminders, or your open pull requests.

Everything is a subject

Selected text, the Finder selection, the current document, a clipboard item. All of it can start a command.

Extensions are vocabulary

Notes, Reminders, Safari, Obsidian, Things, GitHub and more add subjects and actions to the same sentence.

Working memory

Clipboard history and the Shelf keep what you copied and what you are working on, encrypted at rest.

AI Prompts are files

A prompt is a Markdown file. Run it on any text with Apple's on-device models or your own endpoint.

Settings are a file

Everything lives in config.toml. There is a CLI and a URL scheme when you want to script it.

Themes

Change how Tuna looks without changing how it works. Hover to peek at Default, Logic Board, Normie Bar, Notch, and Nuggets.

What people say

“I think Tuna might be the first one to get it right. It doesn't crowd you with hundreds of things you won't use.”
Rubens Nook · Every Mac Launcher Gets This So Wrong, YouTube
“Once it's working, it's the kind of thing you stop noticing because it just feels like the computer is doing what you want.”
Darren Rowse · 5 Apps I Started Using in April
“After giving Tuna a try, I realize what's been missing since Quicksilver: some whimsy; a Mac-assed launcher. […] Tuna is fun to use. It looks right at home on the Mac.”
alwillis · Hacker News

Free to use. $49 once for everything.

Everyday launching is free, with soft limits. Pro removes them: unlimited extensions, custom script folders, clipboard history without an age cap, currency conversion, every theme, and every local dictation model. One license covers three Macs.
